Elective csection?

What are reasons for choosing a csection when you don't need one?

I know some doctors will do as the patient wishes but honestly a c-section poses a lot more risk and complications . Any doctor who is willingly okay for a elective c-section is a doctor I wouldn’t want .

With my first I had an emergency c section. It was awful and became infected within two days and I spent a month in hospital. ( I also had 5 surgeries during that time to rid the infection) Only had been 18 months since becoming pregnant with my second, so now its advised for me to have an elective as I risk my uterus rupturing and other complications. So although ill be having an elective c section its only for my safety not because I actually want to have one

I had an emergency csection after 15 hrs of labour 20 mins pushing my son's heart rate dropped they tried vacuum delivery that failed so I had a csection to save my son, recovery was horrible, I'm now pregnant again (my son is 1) and the doctor says at this stage it's my choice but that may change due to risk of rupture........ the amount of women who have assumed I electively chose to have a section is ridiculous as is their judgement because they had babies naturally........end of the day when your lying in a hospital bed and doctors and midwives tell you to save your baby you need a section you don't concern yourself with disappointment at not having them naturally you concern yourself with them being delivered safe and well. Nobody knows if they'll be in  that position when they go into labour or nobody knows what reason medical or otherwise some women chose to have elective sections because really all that matters is our babies and their health not how they were delivered.

My SIL had an elective c-section because she didn't want to have to deal with the pain of a vaginal birth... because apparently recovering from major surgery isn't nearly as painful... 🙄

I ended up having emergency cs after about 17 hours of induced labor with my daughter, who is now 9 months, so I will likely end up having another if my OB says I have not healed long enough to have VBAC.  Or if my blood pressure goes through the roof again. 🙄
Look, if your reasons are that you are scared of labor, please don’t be!  Your body KNOWS what it is doing.  It is literally our evolutionary purpose to reproduce.  This doesn’t mean it’s not painful but you can get through it (epidural or not, that’s your choice!) and it can be fulfilling if you choose to see it that way.  Either way you choose, please take a birthing class.  It is extremely informative even if you decide to go with the cs for whatever reason.  Read some birthing books- I recommend Ina Mays guide to childbirth, the official Lamaze book, and Mind Over Labor.  These all helped me prepare A LOT for a long labor.  There are plenty of techniques her women have used for millennia to make labor less intense or painful.  We can talk about those if you would like!
If you have a medical condition that makes a cs necessary, then it is NOT elective.
