Is equality inherently good?

I saw this posted on a libertarian blog. What are your thoughts on it?

Is “involuntary equality” a thing, and is it bad? Is “voluntary equality” the better way to go? I’ve honestly never thought about it, so I am curious to get some opinions.

Is someone out there actually trying to suggest that shit like anti-discrimination laws and government efforts to protect people from everything from inconvenience to death, is a bad thing????? Am I understanding that part right?? 
No equality is not always inherently a good thing. Should pedophiles be protected by the government? Should murderers be treated the same as someone who’s never broken a law in their life? Should the kkk have the same rights to their beliefs as many other groups in the world? No, no, no. If “equality” somehow hurts others then it’s not okay. But in some ways, like I first mentioned, I don’t necessarily agree with the views on that seen in those images. Anti-discrimination laws and whatnot are definitely a good thing when applied to the groups that need them and aren’t hurting others.

the libertarianism / voluntaryism ..er, whatever people call it..is as impossible an ideal as communism. The whole philosophy behind it is that humanity will voluntarily do the right thing, but we already know that isn't true. Before child labor laws, we had child labor. Before slavery laws we had slavery. Laws and regulations are generally born out of necessity, because human nature is not perfect and humans will exploit their fellow man/the earth if given a chance. and so sometimes fairness and equality does have to be forced, because it wouldnt happen otherwise

This seems like an extremist libertarian wrote this. 
Libertarians tend to hate any type of government involvement. And generally hope for people to just do the right thing.
While I agree with some aspects of libertarianism, I definitely CAN NOT agree with this. 
Involuntary equality? Wtf? Equality should be mandatory rather you feel it’s forced upon you or not. To think other wise suggest your superior or “above law”.. 
This reminds me of that YouTube fail video. Where the girl gets detained by police screaming “I’m a sovereign citizen” movement. 🙄🙄👀🤣 (good lord if u want to torture yourself with stupidity I suggest you watch it) 
I have claimed libertarian, but I’m more independent/libertarian mix than anything. I just can’t agree with stupidity. And libertarian extremist tend to be the stupidest of them all 😂😂😂

Humans need laws and regulation. It’s been established throughout history. Boundaries and guidelines are healthy. If people could inherently govern themselves, we wouldn’t be facing the issues we have nationally or globally.

I think equality is necessary. 
The reality is, bigots live amongst us. There is no way to guarantee that equality will ever be fully voluntary. 
And since voluntary equality is never 100% definite, then I more than support involuntary equality. I need anti-discrimination laws to make sure I’m protected. So so many others in society. 
I don’t really think that a philosophical debate on whether equality is altruistic or not is actually important. I don’t care if people value it as good, because at the end of the day , equality is necessary.

This type of thinking makes my eyes roll all the way back in my head. It’s predicated on the assumption that those in power will cede it with no benefit or external pressure. History has shown us that that’s just not what happens. Especially in a country that had a giant war over the right to legally own other people. 
As for the base question of equality always being good, I’d say in an ideal world yes. In the one we have equity makes the most sense in the majority of cases.

Only some equality is good. For example, free speech. All speech is protected, whether you like what a person is saying or not, speech needs to be treated equally under the law. Some equality is bad- we cannot guarantee equal outcomes. Too many seem to be fixated on ensuring everything is “fair and equal”. While it is a noble cause, it is impossible to regulate and achieve. Everyone has unique skills, people put in different efforts, it can even be a matter of just happening to be in the right place at the right time. I cringe hearing people talk of equal outcomes, without realizing how much freedom that would take from us, and even then the end can never be achieved. It has failed every time it had been tried, often at the expense of millions of lives.

Ideally we wouldn’t need laws, but we do. If we didn’t have protected classes, that opens up a whole can of worms. The power isn’t equally distributed enough for us not to have them.

Everything should be voluntary because when it’s involuntary it’s forced. 
It’s like if your child doesn’t have any friends and you pay another child to be their friend, it isn’t real. 
BUT 
I think we should have certain rules and regulations put in place so that people can’t discriminate, for example, in the workplace.
I was watching an episode of Black Ish where Zoe went off to college and there was a black dorm in which she thought was due to segregation but it wasn’t. It was chosen by the students that they wanted to live there.
