Breastfeeding and paci's?

Question

How many of you breastfeeding momma's, also gave baby a paci? Im planning on breastfeeding but thought of buying some paci's, just to have on hand. Thoughts?

I got one from the hospital and bought a couple extra for around the house and in the diaper bag. It didn’t affect breastfeeding for us. She loves her paci and it calms her right down. Also, they suggest putting them to bed with a paci to help prevent SIDS

Get a couple different kinds, because babe may reject some brands over others. Neither of my kids liked the ones the hospital provided (Soothies). My second doesn’t really take a pacifier at all 😩 but she is not quite 3 weeks old.

I did after the first week. She never had an issue switching between nipple, nipple shields, bottle and soother. I think once feeding is established introduce them, it makes life a lot easier!

I gave one when my LO was 8 weeks, I'm soo glad I did it this late. I only use it sometimes to get her to sleep, and before she gets into a deep sleep she will spit it out herself. This means she does not wake me up when it falls out of her mouth yayyy. I also use it when we go somewhere new and she needs something comforting. But if I would stop giving her one today, she won't even notice. I'm thinking of taking it away when she's 6 months.

I’m breastfeeding and my son had a pacifier from day one. He would fuss if he didn’t have something in his mouth. He still uses it. Mostly to fall asleep once he’s done with it he just spits it out. Doesn’t have a problem with feeding or nipple confusion at all.

I breastfed and gave the paci but she gave it up at 6 months by herself and I didn’t force her to take it either. 
So you can do both there is no harm and I still bought some too

I was never given any in the hospital, never even offered them, so it definitely depends on the hospital. With my first baby I waited until we had breastfed for awhile before I gave them to her, but I think I'm going to bring some this time too. Just in case.

I used avent pacifier within the first week he only uses it to sleep and throws it out hes 7 weeks now no nipple confusion or anything

I waited until DD was about 3 weeks old before giving her a paci just to make sure we had the hang of BF. She’s was a bit reluctant at first to take one, she would just rather stay on my boob all day! But eventually we found one she will tolerate (mam newborn paci) and it has been a life saver on my poor nipple 😂
