I’m a FTM and my baby boy is 8days old. His cord hasn’t fallen off and the sides of the belly button have gone up the cord and there is a smell to it and brown residue that comes off on his clothes. His belly isn’t red. Could it be infected?

Update: thank you!!! I called ped and she said that it’s normal. She said because there is no fever, swelling, redness or ozzing that it’s not infected and to clean it with alcohol to dry it out. It just stinks really bad. My poor baby doesn’t smell clean even after a sponge bath.
