There are so many branches to it. Some are more strict than others. Some may see it as sexist, others might just see it as a way of life. Everyone views things differently.

I think people can be sexist. 
Speaking as a christian, the entire message of Christianity is supposed to be about love. 
Unfortunately, many "christians" don't understand this and spread hate and judgement making so so many people turn away from Christianity. 
The best example of a Christian I've ever met hardly ever talked about her faith. She was just extremely kind, caring, and loving to EVERYONE she met. Because of this she helped a lot of people find a relationship with Christ. 
The WORST example of a Christian is people like my grandmother who are bible thumpers and judge and hate anyone with a different opinion than theirs.
