Anal sex advice?

Okay so I have a very loving and caring boyfriend who, like most lads, is interested in anal sex. However, during a very nasty relationship my ex boyfriend tried to anally rape me when I told him I didn’t know enough about anal to feel comfortable doing it and even though he didn’t get all the way in it REALLY hurt and it was just a horrible experience and kinda put me off anal or butt play in general. I told my current boyfriend this and I’m sure he was probably a little disappointed but he was very understanding and said as much as he’d like to, he didn’t want to make me do something that scared me. Honestly he’s amazing and I trust him with everything so I’ve decided I’m ready to forget the past and move on with him and have a good experience so I’m not haunted by the last one. So, ladies, any advice? I know that obviously lube is a must, but any advice on which type? What to expect when it happens? How to prepare? Thank you!!
