Anyone heard of this ?

I'm 7 weeks pregnant. Had not had any ultrasounds done, been having spotting for 10 days and yesterday a large gush of bright red blood. I thought I was miscarrying for the second time and went to the ER. We found out I was actually pregnant with twins but lost one. Very bitter sweet as one baby died and the other has a strong heart beat of 142. Has this happened to anyone else ?
