When/how much should my infant eat?

My son is 8 months & eating twice a day but only eats about 1-2tbsp of Baby food, 1 whole carrot(chopped in half & half again), & 1 avocado(mainly makes a mess. Not everyday but that was today for example. Some days he won’t eat anything ex: plays with everything/refuses baby food a whole day. I I breast feed but I’m scared it’s not enough.m at this age. Does anyone else have this issue? What else could I feed him? What do y’all feed yalls 8mo? How often/how much food do you give?
