Should I support my boyfriend and his wanting to take steroids?!

My boyfriend is really into fitness and recently has made the decision to take on steroids to make him bigger. I am not a fan or "drugs" of any kind. I really don't know much of these steroids... I am having to either support him or leave him. We keep fighting on this topic. I've always supported him and feel I should always do so but this is something I can't bring myself to. Help? Advice? Anything? Please.

I fought with my ex on this for a long time and finally decided to give it a shot. He got extremely aggressive and even physical a few times. He was CONSTANTLY moody. He was nothing like this at all before the steroids. IT IS NOT WORTH TRYING. It raises testosterone which is what gives men their aggressive behavior without steroids. Adding to it will almost always end up bad. If he is willing to lose you if you say no, just leave. He doesn't respect you or care too much and definitely won't have any reason to restrain himself from you.

I come from a family of bodybuilers (and accountants) and we've gone to bodybuilding shows, people get up and talk about what steroids do, how they work and why they're a bad idea. I really think you should let his see some interviews on youtube about it and I think he'll change his mind. Plus depending on where you live, they're illegal. I couldn't get into my apartment building once because 4 army guys we're getting raided. They all for dishonourable discharge and arrested.

Maybe he should consider looking in the long run about the effects of steroids. He's only considering "now" and how it will look now versus the future. Is it really a risk he would want to take?

I delt with this type of situation 3 years ago and I regret it. I was in a similar situation, my boyfriend wanted to start taking steroids and I was completely against it and it was either a support or leave thing too. Even though I did research and was against it I still just played along with him until he hopefully got over what I thought was a phase. WRONG! When he started them he became extremely aggressive with me and our relationship went from amazing to verbally abusive and twice physically abusive (once that happened I was out). On top of the aggression he became very sexual, so one minute he's just angry and the next he's taking that frustration out on me by trying to plow into me. It is not a very good experience at all to deal with. If he's giving you an ultamatum, I would leave. I will never deal with that crap again!

I don't agree with the ultimatum but my husband and I went through this also. It started because he was given a mild steroid while recovering from a knee injury and as we'd been going to the gym he saw results and wanted to try it recreationally. 
Steroids don't make him big, they will just heal the muscles quicker so they'll grow quicker.
I supported with the following rules:
1. Cycle them properly, 3 months on, 3 months off. 
2. If it caused an issues with agrression/anger, etc he was to stop immediately 
3. Attend a medical appointment together to discuss proper side/long term effects, etc. 
4. Only used human steroids, not animal steroids. 
With the first course he took, he did get quite angry and heated all the time... He stopped this one and took a more milder one. On the second course, He did get a shorter temper and it was a little harder to pull him up on things, but on the most part he didn't change too much. He got bigger and sex drive increased. 
Once he stops though, his muscle mass will reduce quickly too and it can become an addiction, because he won't see the same results he did while on the steroids too. 
I was lucky my husband wasn't interested in continuing it though. Also, while he is taking steroids it can reduce your chances of conceiving greatly. 
Personally I wouldn't recommend it, but completely up to you.

Support him being healthy and maybe encourage natural routes first! Some of my brothers have taken steroids to get bigger before body competitions but you can't maintain that "bigness" longtedm. You go up and down from steroid huge to natural big. In my experience it's easier to maintain if if you earn it naturally. A lot of body builders use insulin as a more natural way to build muscle. Good luck and if all else fails openly communicate your feeling of reservation him.
