Haven’t had cervix checked?

I will be 38 weeks tomorrow, and at my weekly appointments they have yet to check my cervix or see if I’m dialated at all - anyone else? They have been awesome telling me what signs to look for and have done all of the other normal things right on time, but it just seems strange that they haven’t even checked!

A lot won’t check because it doesn’t matter how dilated you are until your in labor. You could be 3 cm for weeks or go from closed/thick/high and go into labor the next day. It’s just not a good indication of when you will go into labor. Your not missing anything, cervical checks aren’t fun 😑

not every doctor does it. I was checked today, but my doctor gave me the option on whether or not I wanted her to do it. Like somebody else said, dilation doesn't mean much. you could be 3 or 4 cms and walk around like that for weeks before labor starts.

You can request a check if you're curious. There's no reason for them to say no

Mine routinely starts at 36 weeks when they do the GBS swab.

Yes my doctor won’t check unless I’m in labor or over 40 weeks. I was disappointed because my first pregnancy I started getting checked at 36 weeks 🙄

I asked my doctor and he told me he wasn’t doing a check until 39 weeks. Just depends on your doctor I guess..

Maybe they will do it at your 38 appt :) they only did it at my 35 week because I mentioned that my mom had really fast labors and my brother and I were both early. And then 36 weeks because I was cramping. But they didn’t even mention it this week at my 37 week!
