Please respond need reassurance

So this month I really have been feeling positive that we'd hit the jackpot. I'm due my period today and she's nowhere to be seen. I had mild cramps the las 2 days but whenever I'm about to come on I always have horrendous cramps that stop me going about my day as usual, and this month I haven't had bad cramps at all, just very mild. I didn't want to wait as I was getting very edgy so I took a test and took it tonight and got a BFN!

I'm gutted, but I also wondered f it's because I took it on a night, so I was wondering has anyone ever had a bfn when their period was due and got a BFP a few days later?
