My newborn wont drink milk??

I had him yesterday at about 7 pm and he barely drinks any milk. he knows nothing about breastfeeding so I'm not understanding why he won't  take the bottle. I feel Soo frustrated and I heard the doctor say something about them maybe wanting to keep us another day because he eats little to none. please help me

What do you mean by “milk”? For the first 3 days you won’t be producing much of anything and his stomach is the size of roughly a teaspoon or so. So there won’t be much eating but what there is will be very frequent. The only thing he should be getting is breast milk / colostrum - which is thick and dark yellow - or formula. No other type of milk.

This just happened to me. In the hospital she just kept falling asleep while feeding. The nurses finally asked us to do formula. She guzzled it right down. Don’t give up.... I’m 4 days pp and supplementing with formula still but she does finally stay awake for a decent amount at the breast. Each day gets better.
