I think your dime store would be like Aldi here..

I shop there. Any alternative to the major retailers, $400 would either get me a week of food from major company's, or 2-3 weeks of food from Aldi and fresh food markets.

No shame is doing what you can afford IMO. And saving money shopping, means we can afford other things, like family outings, treats for each other, or to occasionally spoil ourselves, like I'll go get my nails done, he will buy a new tool for work, bub gets a new toy or book or jacket, we also pump money into our savings!

Not at all, too much processed crap. I'd rather eat healthy delicious food than spend money on frivolities like nails and handbags, or cable and kurigs.

We do get some stuff there sponges, pens, cleaning stuff, etc. to save money.

I'm sure it is wise to shop there... Well on certain goods of corse... But with today's economy... Anything to save... Just like couponing...

The one by me only has whatever they can get so if you're going in looking for something specific or a specific brand then it's not such a good place to shop. I go there if I don't mind buying whatever it is generic or if I'm looking for something I know they're going to carry. My husband refuses to buy meat there and their produce is just ok. It's good for a quick trip though.
