holidays with bf

im 20 and in my first relationship we have been dating for 9 months and these are our first holidays together, he has a big family and his dad is coming over (bc he lives in a different country) he told me that all of their family gets together and its the only time in the year that he has the chance to be with them, he lives like 25 mins away (minus the hell traffic) and he doesnt drive, should i feel sad that he doesnt want to spend holidays with me to be with his family or am i only thinking about myself? should i tell him that i can come over to his house instead of him coming to mine?
