Ready, but Timing?

Question

So I really like this guy and I've been saving my virginity for a really long time. And I know its right.however, because he is 3 hours away the only time to do it is New Years Eve (bc thats when we see each other next). But my period ends the day after Christmas. The only form of birth control we have is a condom. Is it safe? Should I do it? Will I be in my fertile window?

there’s no way for us to know if you’ll be in our fertile window - you could always have an early ovulation. the only way for you to know that would be to chart your own temperatures daily for a few months, and see when you’ll be ovulating in relation to your own unique cycle. I recommend an app like Natural Cycles or Kindara - although these methods certainly aren’t foolproof, they’re a good place to start when it comes to understanding your cycle.
As for this guy... condoms aren’t a bad method - when used properly, they can be quite effective. I would recommend being very safe with fluids, like making sure neither of you touches him then touches you (with fluid on your hand, even precum, which can have sperm in it if he’s ejaculated within 24 hours). You should otherwise be fine.
