I just had my little girl on Thursday, the 21st. I desperately want to give her breast milk, but my nipples are in so much pain from attempting it. They're also so horribly scabbed that my doctor doesn't want me directly breast feeding from my breast. He wrote me a prescription for a breast pump, but I will not be able to receive one until Tuesday, May be Wednesday due to the holidays. The only two drug stores in my tiny town are closed until after Christmas. I haven't been able to breast feed her since Friday. Bottom line, my question is, if I wait until Tuesday or wednesday to get a pump, will my body still be able to produce milk even though I haven't breast fed in almost a week? I am sure my milk is coming in because they are extremely full and heavy.
