My period has done this for years...but is this weird?

Jamie

Nine times out of ten, the first day of my period is marked with heavy watery discharge with grainy, mushy, reddish brown or black clots. Then on the second day comes the monsoon, where a super plus tampon and overnight pad only last 3 hours. There are large clots at this point in the flow--roughly the size and texture of double A egg yokes. It's like my uterus doesn't want to give up hope of a pregnancy and then just tries to get it over as quickly as possible over the next 4 days. My last ob/gyn claimed that as long as it was consistent and wasn't painful (more than usual), that I shouldn't need to worry about it. (That was 10+ years ago after I had my daughter.) But is it weird? Should I get another opinion?
