When to tell siblings?

We just found out we are having our 1st baby. I’m 5wks 2 days. We are planning on telling my parents this week but I’m not sure how long we should wait before we tell my stepson, who is 11. Any advice?

Answer

We aren’t telling my son, but he’s 3. He won’t be able to keep a secret and if God forbid, something goes wrong he wouldn’t understand. 11 year old is a whole different story. He might feel special being in on the secret, but be prepared for the chance he lets it slip 😂
