Ok- so I found out today that my sister-in-law is going to have a baby girl (I'm super happy for them).  They are naming her Anna Grace. I'm kinda bummed because I want a baby girl and her hypothetical name is/was going to be Anne Catherine. I'm not pregnant, so mine is totally a hypothetical baby name. But, do you think it's ok to be disappointed? Also- continuing on the hypothetical train- If I do get lucky to get pregnant again and it is a girl, would it be weird to have both an Anna and an Anne in the same family?

Ugh! What is it with people naming their kids based off baby books? Yo kid would be 1 or like 5 Anne's at school. (No offense to the Annes) ANNE IS A BORING ASS NAME. Let yo sister in law choose the name and you come up with the most delicious, chart topping, beautiful name you can think of and make ol' sis in law jealous that she didn't have that creative genius. Also please try to stay away from the baby books please.

Don’t name your kid Anne. Hats so dumb haha. I can’t believe how many people said to do that. Yes you can be sad but Also its a very common boring name so find something that feels more special to you!

If you're ttc of course it's okay to get a bit emotional about these things- it must be something that happens a lot. As long as you don't take it out on your SIL (which it sounds like you're not) then it's fine to feel these things. Anne and Anna are two separate names, if anything it can be seen as cute that as cousins they have similar names.

I am pregnant. Before I found out the gender, my niece named her new puppy Zoe, which was my top name for a girl. To be fair no one knew I was even pregnant yet. My niece offered to change her dogs name once she found out but I told her to keep it. Before that I had other names that I liked for hypothetical children but they kept getting taken by family member who had no idea of the potential names of my hypothetical children. Sometimes you just have to say oh well and move on. On the plus side I ended up being pregnant with a boy so I didn't need Zoe anyway.

I have an Anna and Anne (or Annie, rather, but close enough) in my family, both on my mom’s side too. So while it can be a little confusing at times, it’s not weird at all.
