Breastfeeding essentials?

What are some essentials you ladies swear by for breastfeeding? This is my second baby but I formula fed my first. I was to try to BF this Baby and have no idea what I need.

Excellent advice from all the ladies. I’ll add a haakaa (or other brand) silicone “pump”. It catches the let down from the free boob so you don’t get your clothes soaked and I used to use it when I was engorged to help with the discomfort. Also get a huge water bottle and some healthy snacks for those cluster feeding days.

Drink lots of water. Nursing bras, pads and lanolin cream. A breast pump and storage bags (most insurance will cover the cost of one, call them to find out) and patience as well as a pediatrician that supports breastfeeding. Know that it’s a learning process for the both of you. You got this!

Nipple shield (I’ve been breastfeeding with one for 3 months, they’re amazing!!).. lots of really good nipple cream for the early sore days.. a lot of patience & to just remember once the sore days ease it gets ALOT easier! Just hang on it there mumma! Just make sure you’re eating and drinking plenty 😊

The biggest essential is a support group. A pediatrician who doesn’t push formula, a lactation consultant, a support group (look for local la Leche league chapters). Support is a huge deciding factor in breastfeeding success.

Other than that it depends on your lifestyle. I use nursing tanks, reusable nursing pads, and a boppy. That’s all the money I’ve put towards breastfeeding.

Find the nursing position most comfortable for you. Lanolin for sore nipples. Breast pads for all the leaking! Google will be your best friend.

I breastfed my first child for a year and my second one we are at 12 weeks now but it’s been more difficult the second time around since she will sometimes go on a feeding strike and I get engorged.

Bobby, a good pump, nipple shield (just in case), plenty of storage bags, nipple cream, and a good nursing bra. Been nursing our first little one for 10 months. Currently expecting #2 and will breastfeed them as well.

Following 🤷 I was totally unprepared for breastfeeding with my first and we ended up giving up. I think it was because of my lack of knowledge about the whole thing.
