Do you take melatonin for sleep??

I usually take Zzquil for sleeping. Because I have such a tough time falling asleep, and staying asleep. 
I just got some melatonin. Does anyone take it? And does it work?

I have taken it before when I was not pregnant but not like every night or very often as it can affect your hormones.

My doctor told me melatonin 3mg is completely fine to take because it’s a natural drug not harsh at all

Use to take it for quite some time. Helped me. But took it for like a year. It's not a quick fix.

I take it often it works great for me. except like other mentioned the nightmares. I usually have nightmares often and on melatonin they get alot crazier and kinda scary. but it doesn't stop me. I feel so rested after taking it

Is this during pregnancy? I have had major early-onset insomnia during pregnancies to the point that I probably shouldn’t be driving to work after consecutive nights of sleeping for three hours. My specialist said he would look at melatonin next time.

ZZZquil is way stronger and works differently, Melatonin can just get you into a better sleep habit but it does not work anything like a sleeping pill or like the stuff you were currently taking. Melatonin would be such a downgrade it would be like taking a cube of sugar before bed

Melatonin is hit or miss. I used to use Zzquil every night also. I have seen a doctor and was prescribed sleeping pills but didn't want to take anything that intense. What works for me now, believe it or not, is Sleepytime tea. I drink it around the same time every night and it helps me so go to sleep. I like the Celestial Seasonings Sleepytime Extra or Two Leaves and a Bud Better Rest.

zzzquil is literally just benadryl, an antihistamine which main side effect is drowsiness. I've tried melatonin in the past, it would help me fall asleep but gave me crazy dreams/nightmares so I stopped taking it. I've found that having a pretty strict nightly routine has helped my mind and body get ready for bed and makes it much easier to fall asleep at night. but I would recommend speaking to a Dr if you feel you need to take something to help you sleep all the time.

I used to take it and honestly I don't think it did much for me. Maybe helped a tiny bit but not significantly in anyway

Melatonin works great. Except for people like me with severe anxiety and nightmares. 😅 Melatonin enhances your dreams. I’d give it a try, for sure. But if you have any nightmares I would stay away from it.
