Perenial massage?

Hey ladies. I’m 8.5 months along and have been reading about perenial massage. 
Has anyone out there done this to where they can say they had minimal tearing and/or no episiotomy? 
Trying to start it now, a little uncomfortable but my goal is to be consistent.

I’ve done a lot of research. Start like four or five weeks before due date so your body is prepared. My OB group have had great stories about the perennial massage. I plan to do this. You might need a partner to help that late in pregnancy tho.

I’ve read that doing this while in labor can actually cause swelling and hasn’t shown to reduce tearing. My practice doesn’t do this because of this reasons, but if they did, I’d refuse. I haven’t read anything about doing it before labor, though...
