I’m curious, how do people know what they’re having when they’re barely 12 weeks? I thought the way to find out was at 15-17 weeks? I also know there’s the blood test. When would I know i’m 11 weeks!

Sneak peek can be done as early as 9 weeks. You order online and you prick your finger at home (follow directions very carefully). It’s not too expensive, I️ just did it at 10w2d and got my results the next day (I️ paid for fast track).

Usually if you’re high risk or 35 or older the genetic testing is covered by your insurance. Finding out the gender is a bonus, the test is not to find the gender but to check for chromosomal abnormalities.

I had a panorama test done. The lab takes your blood and looks at the babys DNA. It was a voluntary test offered by my doctor. you do the test at 10 weeks.

I just got the NIPT done 2 days ago so will hopefully get my results late next week. I’m in Australia and 37 and pregnant with my first so the genetic side is important for me to find out. The gender is just a bonus! Oh and the test is not covered at all by our national health care system or by any private health care. $445 Aus dollars out of pocket!! 😬

I got ultrasounds at 12 weeks and both times the doctor said what sex they were pretty sure it was. Last time was totally correct so I’m hoping it is this time too. These were ultrasounds performed by experienced doctors, not ultrasound technicians

You can get the NIPT (harmony test etc) to test for gender from 10 weeks but that’s quite expensive. There’s also the nub theory for ultrasounds before 14 weeks. and then after 14 weeks they can see sex on ultrasound but the chance of seeing it gets higher per week so most go around 16 w
