Steam hair straightener?

Question

Any comments or suggestions on the steam hair straightener? Got really curly, frizzy and weightless hair. I never straighten it at all but every one in a while I’d like to straighten it for a change. A normal straightener damages my hair quite fast ( as it does to many people too) but as my hair is weightless frizzy and dry it never stays right when I straighten it. 
Been told the steaming one is really good and is “healthier”.

Get a really good heat protectant. Using any heat will do some damage. Steam or not.

I never had luck with the steam ones. The best straightener I have found is the 20 dollar purple reminigton at Walmart. After about two years it stops working but it works like a champ when I does work!!

I use the straight ahead straightener it's marketed as a steam straightener. I don't really seem much steam unless I use a heat protector which I just ran out of and haven't bought more but even when I don't use it my hair is very soft and straight right after (I have very thick coarse hair from genetics as well as color damage) it lasts for a long time and doesn't get as poofy. I'm currently trying to avoid using it till I finish my deep conditioning treatments though.
