I posted this with a yoga flow I did this morning and a song called Dunk Girl by Chris Jansen.

I found this song a couple days ago and it moved me to tears. I was expecting some trash about taking the cute girl home once she’s drunk cause “tequila makes her clothes fall off” or something of the sort. How many people in the world that need to hear, understand, and act these words is overwhelming.

As a woman who has had, on two horrific occasions, been taken advantage of without consent or even with resistance, drunk or drugged.. I’d like the world to be clear on what consent is this New Years weekend, because I know I’m not alone.

If a person is too inebriated to drive themselves home, say their name without slurring, walk a line without stumbling, or all around make choices they would soundly make sober, you are past the consent threshold.

If they are all over you begging for it .. and their breath reeks of alcohol, their makeup is smudged all over and their dress is all out of sorts, that is not consent.

If they are laying in a separate room maybe even in your bed trying to sleep it off, that is not consent.

If they have shown some kind of interest in you before, and you think you can get lucky because their judgment is skewed, that is not consent.

If they give you “the eyes” but they are bloodshot with intoxication, that is not consent.

Bottom line, intoxicated consent is NOT consent, intoxicated and passive is NOT consent, sober rejection followed by drunken consent is NOT consent.

No one deserves to wake up in their own vomit to try and piece the night back together, no one deserves to scramble to find their shredded remains of clothing and try to escape before someone wakes up, no one deserves to be taken advantage of in this way.

So this New Year’s <a href="https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.glow.android.eve">Eve</a>, get consent before the alcohol starts flowing. And if you so happen to meet someone after a few drinks.. take a drunk girl home, like a man, Chris Janson style. Lord knows the connection is more tangible without intoxication involved.
