Why can't I carry heavy objects ??

My first pregnancy was smooth I didn't work or anything but with this one I've been working since day one my job requires a lot of heavy lifting and bending my doctor hasn't said anything but get a support brace and take it easy.hope I'm not hurting the baby cause this is my only income

I think it's because the hormone relaxin is making you more prone to injuries like pulling your back. Also later on you should defo stop lifting as it's dangerous for the placenta - could tear.

A client of mine warned against heavy lifting. He said his mother lifted heavy objects while she was pregnant with him and he in turn was born with a hernia. Poor baby. True or not it was enough of a scare to prevent any heavy lifting for me.

My doctor told me I could lift any weight I was used to and comfortable with in my early pregnancy but as I baby grew and I got bigger I had to limit myself. I don't lift nearly as much now at 29 weeks because I feel it in my belly.

I was a paramedic with my second and did a LOT of lifting.  We were fine. I did leave my job at 26 weeks though.
