horizontal indents?

I have horizontal indents on both of my thumbs and no other nails. anyone know why? Google doesn't give a direct answer really

Yes, my left thumb. Cut my finger really bad in 5th grade, IT can still hurt from time to time, my doc said I damaged the nerve.
