Do you let your pet lick your baby in the face?

I've noticed a lot of people let their pets lick them in the face, and those tend to be the ones that let their pet lick their infants, and toddlers in the face. I'm just wondering if that's the normal thing, or if it isn't. 
[If you don't have kids, this doesn't apply to you. If you don't have pets this doesn't apply to you.]

Do I encourage it ?... no, but has it happened? of course. I don’t stress about it as I can vouch for my dogs as being relatively clean... also I am a believer that some amount of germs are good and healthy. I will add tho that before around 6 months I did keep our pups away from our LO.

It happens whether you want it to or not. Babies are interested in dogs and vice versa. 
You dont want to force your dog to stay away or punish them for it. It could be seriously detrimental to their behavioral patterns.

I know this says that if I don’t have kids then it doesn’t apply buuut if I did no I absolutely would not let my dogs lick my baby’s face because they eat cat shit, garbage, lick their butt holes and who knows what what else has been in their mouths on top of that babies don’t have strong immune systems so who know what they could get from having a dog or any other pet lick their face... that’s just my opinion

I let my cat lick my daughter when she was an infant. He's always been good with the kids and likes to groom their hair.

Currently pregnant so we don’t technically have kids yet, but we have pets. I won’t stop them from licking our kids. Yes, they lick their butts, but kids are disgusting too, I wouldn’t keep my kids away from each other. They’re going to experience germs. I’m not going to encourage the dogs to lick them, but it happens. Heck, sometimes *I* get licked in the face.

Yes our dog licks our daughter. We’ve never seen an issue with it. Our dog had very high anxiety and fear based aggression prior to me getting pregnant and putting him through extensive training. So the fact that he’s licking her and likes her it’s so huge. We almost had to give him up to have her. That’s how bad he had gotten. So I’m not going to scold him for giving her kisses because I don’t want him to turn on her in some way and thinks she’s bad. We encourage them to play together and bond and if that involves kisses then so be it.

when we first got home with the baby i kicked our cat out of our room she shed alot and was a very clumsy cat lol . she would try and jump to things and miss lol and shell try and climb on the canopy of our bed and fall down lol . so we didnt want her to hurt the baby by mistake . but sometimes she would hide and climb on out bed and lick the babies head when we werent looking untill we caught her ! lmao her hard ruff ass tounge .. our poor baby . she didnt cry i think she kind of liked it .. lol

I let the dogs lick my face, but not the baby, hes too young to get gross dog slobber germs. I do however let my dogs sniff and cuddle the baby, which a lot of people frown upon. The dogs are just interested in the new family member, and I want them to have a good relationship with my son.

It happens but I'm not necessarily happy about it. Why scare baby and pet by yelling at them?

Definitely not a newborn especially before vaccinations but once the kid gets a bit older and starts crawling/walking and potentially going to daycare I don’t see a huge deal. I wouldn’t encourage it and definitely try to scold the dog but you can’t catch everything
