Small cramps?

Hello everyone! First time being pregnant and we were trying for over a year so I'm over sensitive about a lot but are small cramps normal? Not constant but every now and again I feel a tinge of pain on either my right or left side, never the same, random but not intense just a sort of 'owe sharp pain' that never stays longer than a minute. I'm only about 4 1/2-5 weeks and have my first appointment next Thursday. No bleeding or spotting at all. I suffer from anxiety and I'm trying so hard not to think anything will happen to our little one.
