Was my revenge to harsh?
My ex and I worked in the same building. He's a subcontractor who asked me out after a bad break-up. He swore he'd never hurt me and that he wanted to mend my heart. He even knew my previous ex and he liked to say that he never deserved me. I caught him this holiday week hitting on my subordinate employee. No one in the building knew we were dating but the two other managers on my project . So I asked the employee he hit on if she was going to go for him. She said he kept hitting on her and she kept saying no and it was really starting to annoy her since he's a big guy, physically imposing and just not taking no for an answer. I tried to confront him when he was supposed to be working but he didn't answer his work phone. Shortly after I received a call back from his personal phone. It was a butt dial and he was with another woman. I confronted him about both incidents and he tried to pretend the woman was his sister, and then his lesbian friend when I repeated the conversation back to him. He said hitting on my employee was an accident and he 'backed off' when she said no and he'd been hitting on her since before we started dating so what was the big deal. He really didn't get that it was inappropriate to hit on my subordinates while dating me since 'nothing' happened. So I told him to get a transfer to another building his company contracts with or I'd disclose our relationship and his actions. I know I was procedurally justified to get him transferred and report him if he doesn't go willingly. But am I petty if I benefit personally from his absence? Especially since he was cheating outside of work too?
