Silly Question

So please be nice because we can’t find anything online that is straightforward. So confusing!

My husband took an at home semen test, and he only got one line which means he has a low count.

What’s the next step?

I find things online that say go to your doctor, but is that just like our general family doctor? He’s had the same doctor for almost 20 years. I have also found things that say go to urologist but it also says that you need to be referred to a urologist.

I have a yearly female exam next week. Should I just talk to my doctor and see if she can refer to us to a fertility clinic, or does my husband need to get a proper/professional semen analysis before ANYONE will refer us to a clinic?
