water or milk?

I assume for everyone they have at some point made a cake, or hot chocolate. usually the instructions say to use water. However in my home we always substitute it with milk. what do you guys use? obviously for people than can't, or simply  don't drink milk, you use almond milk, or another substitute.

if I'm making cake from a box, I use water.  from scratch, whatever the recipe calls for. but hot chocolate, def. milk.

A great of making cheap boxed cake mix is to alter the recipe. If I want to fancy up a boxed cake I use:
4 eggs instead of 3
1 stick of soften butter or coconut oil instead of veggie oil.
And milk instead of water.
For chocolate cakes, use coffee instead of water. Just plain black coffee 
And THAT gives you a perfect fancy bakery cake. 
For hot cocoa, I always use water, and add a splash of milk of half and half.... our tummies in this House can’t handle boiled milk. We get bloated and then need a bathroom. 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can use coconut milk, almond milk anything like those sound be fine but with nut milks you’ll have to worry about those with nut allergies.
