Is 8 weeks late for first appointment?

Hey! This is my first baby and I’m going on 5 weeks right now. I called my Obgyn and told her I got a positive pregnancy test and she scheduled my appointment in 3 weeks (1/29). I’ll be 8 weeks by then. Is that super late for a first checkup? Seems late but I really have no idea! TIA 💕

That's normal. If you go earlier they might not be able to detect a heartbeat and it freaks people out.

a lot of places wait 6-12 weeks before the first appointment, so any week within that range is normal.

8-12 weeks is typical around here. There’s not much that can be done at the beginning so just eat well, try to stay calm, and lay off the cigarettes

Where I live they want to wait until 8-12 weeks, usually 10, unless there's a reason for going in earlier. This time my first appt was 5 wks and ultrasound at 6 because of previous miscarriages. I know its so hard to wait, but there's not too much they can do super early :)

Totally normal. Mine was at 9 weeks. They usually wait until they can actually see something on the ultrasound. Too early can cause unnecessary stress.
