When to announce?

When did you announce to family and friends you were pregnant? What week, and why? 
Currently I'm 5W 5D and the only people who know are immediate family, because I did IVF it was unavoidable. They knew my transfer and test date etc. but extended family and friends have no idea I was even trying so it's going to be a bit of a surprise for everyone else.

We told our parents and siblings right away because they knew we were doing IVF and I was on bed rest afterwards and very sick, so it was pretty obvious. I was kinda antisocial in my first trimester. I felt horrible and was so nervous about the pregnancy. I didn't want to be congratulated because I was so sure it wouldn't stick, so I didn't tell other people until a ways into my second trimester. I did love telling strangers though, sometimes you just need to share.

Close friends & family as soon as the blood test came back positive as they were on the whole IVF journey everyone else we let know after the 12 week scan! This was our announcement. It read the Bordone family are proud to announce two new additions to our family!

We told our immediate family the day we got the positive test. Our previous 2 pregnancies ended in miscarriage, and we'd done big reveals for each of them, but that made the miscarriages that much harder. We didn't keep it secret (from family) when we started again, which actually took a ton of the pressure off! We didn't announce publicly till 14 weeks though.

Pregnant with IVF twins now. Parents knew right away and then announced at 13 weeks to everyone else. We waited just to be safe.

We didn't tell family until 18-19 weeks. This was after IVF with ICSI and TESE. I announced at work 21 weeks as I really couldn't hide it any longer. I don't see a reason to announce super early; it just makes it longer for everyone.

I'm pregnant with an IVF baby too! My close family knew immediately. Everyone at work knew right away too, because they were all aware of the procedures since I was taking so much time off work. My work is like a little family though, so I felt comfortable telling them. We announced to the rest of the world at 8 weeks after we heard the heartbeat. My doctor said it's pretty safe at that time, as the chance of miscarriage drops to about 3% once a strong heartbeat is detected. Congratulations on your pregnancy!!
