Was anyone else’s first period after baby really bad?

So it says it all in the title really 
My baby is almost 6 weeks old and yesterday I came on what I’m guessing is my first period.
It’s so heavy, quite watery, abit mucusy and bright red and dark red at times 
No big clots. Just a few small ones. 
Did anyone else have a bad first period with a lot of blood loss??

I got my period when my LO was 6 weeks old and I still have it today and my LO is 8 weeks old now...will it ever stop?!?

This just happened to me at 6 weeks. I had trouble conceiving because I had such a short cycle before. I used to have a 3 day long easy/light periods every 21 days (took me a while to find my target ovulation period). But this first period after birth was a DOOZY!!! It lasted me 8 days and was incredibly heavy. Bad cramps, blood like you described and a lot of discomfort. I had my 6-week follow up and OBGYN said this can happen to some women. It may get lighter and more like before, but it might not. Here’s hoping for back to easy periods! 🤞🏻

My first cycle was Normal & hes 8 weeks now and my cycle lasted 8 days though

I had an IUD put in at 5.5 weeks, so I don't think I'm going to get my period back.  Baby is now 9 weeks,  I had spotting for a day after the IUD insertion and that's it.

Mine was back to normal and lasted 5 days- I’m wondering if something was weird with me for not having a super heavy one 🤷‍♀️

Yes, it was the worst period I’ve had. I had no idea it was even coming.
