We’ve settled on a boy name, but have run into a dilemma with the girl name. My husband and I both love Susan Elizabeth, after my aunt who passed away before I was born. I looked just like her and was always called Susie by my Grandfather growing up. I also wore a lot of her hand made clothes and apparently had the same personality.

The problem we have is my husband has an aunt named Susan who will most certainly claim we named the baby after her. She’s very selfish and doesn’t usually consider other people’s feelings before doing things. This is my husband’s only aunt so we see her frequently and will be a very active part of baby’s life.

So, we’re thinking of saying screw it and picking the name anyway. We’d sit his aunt down and very clearly explain why we chose the name and it would be a dishonor to my late aunt if she claimed otherwise. I’m just worried she won’t be respectful of this.
