Baby clothes, which sizes and how much do I need? Newborn size?

I honestly don't really know how to word my question, but I'm wondering how many clothes in each size is suggested to be brought before baby is born? It's mainly newborn sizes I am confused about, I know some babies skip the size all together, some are in it for only a short few weeks and some for months. Obviously I have to have clothes in all sizes and if need be will buy more after baby is born, but any tips, opinions, anything on baby clothes and which sizes to stock up on are so needed and appreciated! I feel like I will be one of those mums who go crazy over board on clothes and would just like to avoid as much wasted money as possible. 🙂

My boyfriends mom has literally bought out the entire Carters store. She got all kinds of sizes. I feel like my child will never wear anything twice 😂 so in other words, whatever you feel like buying.

I have two children already, so I kinda use them as an example. My son never fit anything newborn. My daughter, however, could fit newborn clothes for about 3 days, other than that she wore 0-3 month clothes for the first few months. 
This time around I brought a few white onesies (the ones that button to the side, for easy access while the baby’s navel is healing to fall off) in newborn. Everything else is 0-3 months. 
H&M; has single sizes the range from 1 month, 2 month, etc. Which many other places doesn’t offer. But I’ve also brought a few of each things from there as well. Just to see if the baby can fit into anything before continuing to shop.

Babies vary in size and shape-- my nephew was born so big he went right to 3 month clothes (they were baggy but the new born clothes didn't fit well.  and it will really come down to How often you want to do laundry. But my goal is 10 outfits of each age group to start (more or less) just so I have a few outfits a day in case of vomit/diarrhea, and then I have a few days between washes. :)
