Okay, so I’ve been dating my boyfriend/BFF for a year and some change, and I couldn’t be happier with him. But sometimes, my ex would come in the picture. Every time I see him, my chest would tighten up and I would just freeze up and hide so he wouldn’t see me. I don’t have feelings for him anymore, but he took my virginity when I was 14 and we rocked for a year and a half before it ended on REALLY bad terms so he unfortunately has some significance in my life. He was an asshole, a cheater, emotionally abusive, and extremely manipulative to the point where I would come back to him no matter what he did before I finally had enough. Since last year, he’s been texting me these lengthyyyy paragraphs in the middle of the night (2-4am) and congratulating my relationship in the start of every one, saying that he’s sorry that things ended up the way that it did, that he misses our “friendship”, and even drove 15 minutes to my house to give me a hug because “it’s been too long since we connected.” One hug. That’s it. When I called him out on his shit and asked him if he still had feelings for me or something, he said “why would I wanna break up a perfectly happy relationship for” and I left it at that. He finds any reason to text me even though I do not talk to him nor see him at all anymore, and I’m convinced that there’s some underlying intention. What does this all mean? Am I right to be suspect about it or am I just being crazy?

P.S. I don’t hide anything, I make sure that I send my boyfriend screencaps of everything he texts me before I think about replying and I always let him know everything that goes on with my ex, so he’s fully aware of what’s going on here.
