Do you make a gift to your OBGYN??

Question

I'm from a post-USSR country where it's almost mandatory to make gifts and give flowers after delivery to the doctor who followed up your pregnancy. 
Now I'm hesitating because I want to bring a box of chocolates to my doctor just as a New Year's greeting, but I don't know whether this is appropriate in the USA. Please help!

I gave  my Ob  a gift,  and all of my  nurses while I was in the hospital

Not expected but super thoughtful. I'm a nurse and my doctors love gifts. I got chocolates and gift cards for my nurses and doctors who took care of my daughter, not necessary but they appreciated it I'm sure.

I really should. My OB (who is also my GP) brought me into this world, my sisters into this world, and my son into this world. Unfortunately she wont be delivering this baby but she's already said she'll come visit us right away (bless her soul)

I made cookies and brought them with me so that way there nurses, doctors, etc could have a treat.

Side note- after I gave birth my nurse wheeled my to the nurses station and had me pick out a hand made hat for my baby from this basket of hats that some people from a church committee made. It’s an awesome keepsake and has a little tag with the date and where it’s from. I sent them a thank you letter. Pretty great

Why not? 
Sure it’s her job, but it all depends on how well she made sure your experience was. If it was great...no question.

Totally not customary, but I doubt it would go unappreciated! Who doesn’t like chocolate?
FWIW, my parents brought a huge tray of pastries to the oncology ward where my dad had treatment on his last day. Was DEFINITELY appreciated, especially since he keeps saying the oncology folks took his results (i.e. treatment didn’t work) harder than he did.

The midwife who delivered my daughter gave me a hat she knitted (she told me she gives one to every baby she delivers) so I did take a picture of my daughter in it and gave it to her at my 6 week check up. It's not expected to give a gift but it's very nice.
