Group B Strep Positive and Water Breaking

Hi everyone!

This will be baby number two for us. Our first baby was a week past due date and I️ therefore had to be induced and have my water broken by my doctor. Everything else followed the norm of a regular natural labor and delivery.

With our first, I️ tested positive for Group B Strep but since I️ had to be induced, the antibiotics were given in a timely manner after they broke my water in the hospital. I️ tested positive again this time around but worry about my water breaking on its own and getting the antibiotics in time. Obviously, I’ll be calling my doctor immediately but wanted to reach out and see what others have done.

Anyone also test positive for Group B Strep out there? What was your protocol for heading to the hospital for the antibiotics? Can I️ shower before heading to the hospital (if contractions have yet to start)?
