Never used protection but never gotten pregnant??? Help?

Ok so I know I was stupid when I was younger but my first bf and I were together a year and a half and never used protection and never took birth control and i dont have a child. Now with my husband we are trying so we arent using protection or birth control(we never have actually....) and nothing is happening now either. Because of the LONG period of time of not using protection or bc and not getting pregnant I was able to see a fertility doctor. Im having trouble making appointments to get the tests done cause they never have appointments when im ovulating. Has anyone been in a situation like this and still gotten pregnant??!??
