Too long to nurse
My LO is almost 2 weeks old and the past few days feedings have been a little difficult. She seems to latch and detach and latch on again, but when she tries to latch on she does a lot of head shaking so it makes it difficult for me to get her to latch properly.
Then she will nurse forever maybe like 10 minutes she'll fall asleep so I'll try to burp her but she will wake up and cry again to nurse and it'll go back and forth like this for an hour or an hour and a half, almost a two or three hour stretch with really no break. It's taking quite a toll on me. It's like any movement will set her off.
This gives me barely any time to pump, and reason why I want to pump Is because my husband thinks I'm not giving her enough milk from my breast and because he wants to participate in feeding her. But each time I pump (maybe twice a day), it's only about 1 oz.
My husband thinks this is ridiculous that I am constantly nursing her.
Update: My husband is not an idiot or a dumbass. We are FTM and he just wants to make sure that our baby is getting fed. We had a rough start with BFing because I had a c-section and so it was hard getting started and not to mention very very painful. She lost 12% of her body weight when we got discharged so we had to supplement with formula for a while. She gained her weight back and more. My husband is also just concerned about my well being, he makes sure I'm not too tired to nurse and doesn't want me to get frustrated that nursing takes so long. It is a process that we are both going through.
Thank you all for the suggestions and confirmation that she is definitely cluster feeding and all of this is normal behaviors.
