My LO is 6 weeks old as of Sunday and is strictly formula fed. A week ago she was a playful, happy baby and was awake about 10 hours each day. She would entertain herself in her swing, watch the TV with us, or lay with her dad and I and make faces for an hour or so at a time. About 5 days ago I couldn’t afford her regular formula (Similac Sensitive) so I opted for the HEB (Texas grocery chain) brand that was comparable to it. All of a sudden our energetic baby turned into a sleepy, grumpy, gassy baby. She would fall asleep right after feeding and only wake up to cry because of gas, then fall back asleep with no interest in play time. I was worried and immediately blamed it on the formula, but wasn’t able to switch back until today. Well.. I’ve fed her 3 bottles of her normal formula and she hasn’t seemed to get better. She’s still sleeping too much and hasn’t gotten her personality back. So basically I’m terrified. What if it wasn’t the formula? And I let it go on too long thinking that was the issue but there’s something worse behind the behavioral change? Have y’all had any similar experiences? Should I ride it out another day or take her to hospital just to be safe? Do you think it’s the formula or something worse? Please, any advice is welcome.
