Cholroid plexus cysts??

Question

Anyone ever have these show up in their little baby's 18 week ultrasound . Trying not to worry too muh research online has all calmed me but still.. Cysts in her brain !? Yikes!!

My first had those at his 18 week check - freaked me out too!! Apparently they are quite common, and usually disappear on their own by 24 weeks. it's apparently an outdated test for Down Syndrome - outdated because if they are the only symptom they mean nothing. If in conjunction with nuchal translucency data (or other) it can increase risk further.

​My sons disappeared by themselves before 24 weeks and he is a bright, happy 2.5 year old whose met all of his milestones early. So don't stress - it's probably nothing :)

When they see CPCs on an ultrasound it doesn't mean there is a problem with the baby's brain.  CPCs are a soft marker for a chromosome problem called trisomy 18.  Most babies with trisomy 18 would have other findings on their 18 week scan so if that is the only thing they saw the risk should be low.  Try not to worry.

Thanks! All my other tests have come back completely normal so I'm not too too worried but still was the worst phone call I've ever received!. I have my next ultrasound at 27 weeks fingers crossed they are gone!!!
