Can an infant travel out of the US with only birth certificate?

I have a family emergency and need to travel to Mexico but I don’t have her passport will I be able to bring her back with her birth certificate? I’ll be leaving from Tijuana

No,  you need a passport.  I wouldn't go to Mexico with my child without a passport Even if it was okay.... the way our president is set up 🤔  A Bc  could be for any child not necessarily the one you're going with.

In the past we have been able to use a photo ID and birth certificate but I’m not sure if it works like that for infants.

I have heard conflicting things on this. Call your airline and see if they can tell you, or at least patch you through to security or to someone who can help you

If you purchase a passport they will give you temporary documentation to use for travel until you receive it. If you are driving across I haven't had trouble with crossing with a birth certificate but I'm not sure if it's different when they are babies
