Glucose test at 8 weeks pregnant?

I don’t have any prior health issues but my doctor wants me to have glucose test done just before my 8 week appointment?
I always hear people say that’s routinely done closer to 20-24 weeks? 
I am overweight for my height so maybe that’s why???? 🤷‍♀️
Anyone else have the glucose test done in first trimester ?

They made me do it at 8 weeks. I failed it because of morning sickness, which will screw with your numbers. They made me see an endocrinologist who said testing that early was irresponsible and not even close to protocol. She reordered the test for 28 weeks so I take it again Monday. They have been making me monitor my glucose since week 8 and it’s been normal. My a1c has even gone down since last year and is no where near diabetic.

Is there any indication that you may be pre-diabetic that would give cause to do the glucose test so early ??

unless if you are overweight or there is a history of it that seems odd. They should wait until 16-24 weeks.

I had mine early but it was bc I was over 35yrs old.  Are you over 35 or considered high risk for some reason?

I had the 1 hr done at 16 weeks. Failed it. But then I had the 3 hr done at 17 weeks and passed out. 
I received an eob before the 1 hr test and saw they included glucose in one of the blood work orders I get monthly. That test was on Halloween at 5p. Assuming that number came up really really high which is why they ordered the 1 hr for me earlier. They also saw some sugar in my urine that day.
