When should I find my doula

Good morning ladies, I plan to have an at home birth with the assistance of a birthing coach or doula. When should I begin reaching out and contacting one? I am 12w3d today. Just had my 12w appt/scan (01/10/18) and everything is looking good. Next appt/scan is 02/01/18. I’m just not sure when i should be contacting them. I’m paying out of pocket since it’s not covered by tricare and don’t mind saving for a few more weeks.

I would start researching now. You never know how many you will go through to find the right one. Contact them to see how they do billing so you'll have an idea of how much it will cost  and when the best time to start seeing them would be.

Good doulas book early and offer prenatal services you might want to consider already. I lined up mine last week (I’m 14w)

You can start searching now. Good doulas do book quickly. Don’t be surprised if your doula doesn’t want to start your prenatal visits until after 20 weeks though! 😉 Hope you find your perfect birthing companion. I’m having a doula for my birth also.
