Should you ask the kids you already have before you decide to have more kids?

I disagree with quite a few comments.  I don't think it's permission you need but I do think it's a good idea to ask the children how they feel. makes them feel more part of the family and shows you're not neglecting them . it could help you anticipate possible problems when the next baby comes along (jealously). obviously it depends on the age though. 😊

If you have 10 kids and expect older children to help, then yes. I was the oldest of 5 and my youngest sister was born when I was 16. While I understand it is the parents decision. I was old enough to know that 1. I was going away to college and wouldn’t see her as much and 2. That I was going to have to help until I went away and whenever I came back. I love my baby sister so much, but it was not easy. So, if you have older kids and you are going to need help babysitting or anything like that, then I would keep that in mind.

I believe that asking your children if the idea of a sibling (or another sibling) is something they are interested in, is a good plan. I think it’s wise to see how your children feel about adding to the family before you even try to conceive, because it’ll give you an idea of how they might react when you actually are pregnant. If they have been asking for a sibling, they’ll be thrilled to know it’s going to happen! If they don’t want another sibling, you will know that you need to break the news in a soft way, so they don’t react in a completely awful way! 
Our daughter has been asking for a sibling for over a year. Actively asking every single day. Right before my husband and I started trying, we asked her if she still wanted a brother or sister and asked how she would feel if we brought a baby into our home. She said she wants a sibling and she can’t wait to help. My husband and I felt better about trying knowing that our daughter is also on board. We are now expecting #2, and we have yet to tell her. But we are going to tell her in a special way, because we know she’s going to be so excited! We are excited to tell her because we already know she’s ready for it! Had we not asked her ahead of time, we would probably be more hesitant about it all.
