Anyone else scared at that thought of having a baby?

Me and my husband just started trying to have a baby...always been the type of woman that never got excited seeing other people babies and never felt like I have that maternal extinct.  I’m 33 and just feel like I’ll be that “old” mom in a sea of young mothers and scared I might miss my old life?  Just wondering if anyone else is having all these random thoughts?  My brain is going 90 to nothing with all these emotions!

Not sure where you’re from...but I just got pregnant at 31 and it’s around the same time as everyone else here lol. But I’m in NYC...most of the people I grew up with in SC had kids much earlier, but I honestly feel much more prepared. We also had a shit ton of crazy fun in our 20s and also are a lot LOT more financially stable/make more money than those who had kids earlier. I don’t regret waiting ❤️

I’m an old mom too. I had my first at 30 my second at 32 and hoping to have another one day. I got an education, a career, a masters and married. I was kind of busy and didn’t find the right man till later. My kids are healthy though so it’s all good

This is going to sound really weird, but this is the way I've been feeling haha.  So I feel the same way (except about the "old mom" thing,  I don't think early 30s is old) as the original poster and I have begun comparing it to how I feel about cats lol.  I never was all that excited about cats.  They were cute-ish but not my favorite, and I didn't go out of the way to see them or pet them like I would with dogs. They kind of scared me a little bit too. But then I moved to an apartment that didn't allow dogs so we got 2 cats. And now I love them and know how to care for them and feel comfortable around them.  I even love other people's cats now too. So,  that's how I'm hoping I'll be when I have a baby lol.  I definitely want kids and always have, but really dont have that maternal instinct right now. But I'm feeling like all that will kick in.

I feel like I’m the one who wrote this post. Wow. Just turned 33 in December and my husband and I are trying for baby #1. Never been a baby person, but I love all of my nieces and nephews. It’s a scary feeling to feel unsure about the biggest decision of your life. I start over analyzing about everything. Will I be a good mother? Will I be too old to have the energy to run after my kid or even see my own grandchildren. Will I lose all of my freedom and turn into every other mom I know that looks tired all the time and doesn’t feel like doing anything. Please tell me I’m not alone in this. I feel so selfish sometimes, but I do know that deep down inside, I must want a baby because when we tried in December for the first time and AF came to town, I was sobbing for two days. I think it’s normal to feel this way, I hope it is.

I worry about that all the time. my sister swears that you will love kids that are yours, she says she can't stand other people's but absolutely adores her 3 lol

You women are fabulous and makes me feel better to know I’m not alone in my feelings!  I found my now husband when I was 31 and we feel comfortable and secure now in our 30s.  Just a scary thought that it’s just been me all these years and now going to bring a life in this world I’ll be completely responsible for lol

🙋🏻‍♀️ I was 35 when I had my son last year. Most of my friends kids are over 10 years old. I love being older and established. My husband and I have focused on our careers and did all the things we wanted to before having our son.  We are trying for #2 already and can’t wait.  
There are days I miss my pre mom life but I wouldn’t change my life now for anything. Having our first baby has made our life so much more amazing than it was before. 
It’s a big change but you will instantly settle into a new normal. GOOD LUCK 🧚🏼‍♀️

I am ttc with my husband, & I am 33. I don't think 33 means you'll be an "old" mom. You are as young as you feel! Age is just a number. Like another poster said, if you keep an active lifestyle, you won't feel like an "old mom." I work with someone who had her 1st at 33, & her baby has not changed her & her husband's lifestyle! They like to travel, go out, try new things, etc, & their almost 2-year old son is right there with them! My sister-in-law just had her 3rd at almost 36.  Her oldest is 5. She was a runner in high school & still maintains that part of her life. Your 30s is a great time to have kids. I agree with other posters that you might have more peace of mind having kids after you've established your career & have had time to save up some money, because we all know children can be expensive! Baby dust to you and everyone here!!

everyone is scared about having a baby at some point. I had my first at 29, my second at 31 and this one will be when I'm 33. I don't feel to old. I feel like I really got yo live my life. I got to party and have blast!!!
