So I took a test 3 days ago and I got 2 positive results on a clear blue test. I went to the doctor to confirm and my blood test was negative! He said he wasn’t sure how I got a positive but he agreed that both test showed positive. Now this picture was taken the next day because I took the test with me to the hospital so the picture looks a little more faint but it’s not in person!

@Gaby, actually it depends on which type of blood test test, qualitative or quantative. a qualitative just gives a yes or no vs quantative that will tell the amount of HCG in the blood. Some labs Qualitative won't give a positive unless there is greater than 25 units of hcg is detected, which is more than some urine test. Quantative HCG blood test are the most accurate, it's important to know which one you are taking. At the hospital I work at, the MDs usually prefer urine HCG test to confirm pregnancy and will follow up with a beta hcg or the quantative one.

@carrie. Sorry, that is absolutely not true. The beta Hcg hormone is released when there’s implantation. It needs to reach a high blood concentration in order to the excess appears in urine. So no, no urine test can pick up an early pregnancy more accurate than blood work done at the doctors office. They will then count the amount of hcg (Human chorionic gonadotropin) per milliliter of blood. Hope that helps!

I had the same thing blue dyes can give false positives try a red dye test before going back to your doctor's.

This was my test with my son and I thought it was a faint positive and it was 4 days before my period and I went to the doctor and blood drawn and hcg levels were positive
